Hello again. I know it's been long. But, without wasting any more time, I would like to start with our topic today.
Have you ever felt that your brain works incredibly fast and you don't even get the time to digest half the things that it processes? The billions of feelings and emotions that go through your brain throughout the day, have they ever made you wonder why we still hang on to particular feelings? Ever thought as to why at times we are depressed to the point of no return and on other days, we are all happy and thankful? A lot of questions exist in this world but let me try to focus on one today.
You see, what really concerns me is the increasing amount of insecurity and the mental issues in the world today. I would also add the unnecessary hype and the attention these things get. With the increasing knowledge in the field of psychology, why is it that we see a rise in the number of cases of mental illness rather than the expected decrease?
There is not a soul here who has not heard the phrase "what you can believe, you can achieve". Yes, that is true and I do not need to give examples as there are many available on the internet. The thing is, do we even believe in this phrase? Can we even trust these simple words said by someone to help us through these humongous tasks that we take on in our lives? Well, here is some reality check, our existence compared to the universe around us, is negligible, forget about the things that happen to us. Well, these lines might offend some but trust me this is the truth and helps a lot to keep that wild ego in check. Again, ego plays a big role in our lives. Let me tell you, if you think that ego helps people achieve things in life, then this one is for you. There is a small difference between ego and belief. where the ego says, "I deserve", belief says "I can". On careful reflection, ego has baseless desires and needs them fulfilled even without knowing whether it deserves them or not. Belief, on the other hand, promotes work towards a goal instead of baselessly desiring it.
That is enough with the functioning. What does it have to do with mental issues you ask? Well here is the thing. When people get offended on hearing others say "it's not a real problem", to mental issues like depression, it is hard to say that they are right. Yes, they are right in saying that it is not a real problem and I can give it to you in writing, until you want to fix it, no medication can help. It is true that pills cannot heal the brain. these chemicals cannot even touch your consciousness, or what is referred to as the 'higher self'.It might sound too spiritual, but bear with me, some things cannot be explained and need to be explored individually. The brain, or particularly the consciousness, is very powerful, it can turn thoughts into reality and with the right tuning, it can create wonderful things. Then how can such an amazing tool of creation become a liability to a person? The loss of conscious control over this tool is what causes this devastation. It is tough to control the brain and of course, it has to be. But this control is what we need, in order to make things work for us. Again by control, I do not mean to say that you have to force control. The correct way to swim in a river is not to swim against the flow, but with the flow and allow it to work for you. The same applies with our consciousness. I would go into some more details in future articles but for now that should do.
I know that today's article has been a bit of a hotchpotch but again I haven't been writing for ages. Please pardon me for my mistakes and try to grab something useful from this article of mine. I would like to end by sharing with you what I heard from someone, a long time back, and I quote "Ask not why you fail, but realize that the intentions of the courageous are never incomplete."
